Mt Spokane Snowboard Team Website Under Construction / redesign
by martin beran on Jun.30, 2009, under News
Yes that is the official excuse for inactivity here. I started to let my personal passion for snowboarding and the industry start to mix too much with what Mt Spokane Snowboard Team is about. I am creating a separate website to use as a place to channel some of my personal ADD snowboarding passion while leaving this website as an informational place for the Inland NW.
Thanks for your patience
How Seven Local Mountains are using Social Media
by martin beran on Jun.11, 2009, under Blog, News
This post is a bit overdue and for that I am sorry- Here goes anyways, I am going to work my way down the list and throw out what I have found out.
Mt Spokane currently has a blog, a twitter account, a facebook account and a myspace account
Their blog has 10 posts since it’s creation in March covering a wide variety of subjects including special events, snowfall, ticket/seasons pass deals, operating changes and even a post about the summer. + The blog posts are fairly well written and most include pictures. -Their ‘admin’ responds in the comments section but unfortunately remains anonymous and there is no video.
Their twitter is + fairly activebut --lacking a bit of interaction and I wonder if it’s because they are not followed by many people.
Their MySpace friends list is much healthier than their FB friends list and they have a good variety of pictures on it. + Its super cool to see the pictures they have posted from summer! I can’t think of any -negatives about how they are running their MySpace… maybe that it hasn’t seen any new blog posts in a while.
So that’s it for Mt Spokane and their Social Media use - IMO they are doing alright overall. Stay tuned for another post soon about the next mountain and in the meantime keep on checking out snowboarding stuff online :)
**Only doing a single part at a time because I am busy trying to redesign this website and its purpose
Mt Spokane and Silver Mountain Resort and 5 other Inland NW snowboard mountains are using social media
by martin beran on May.29, 2009, under Blog, News
In an earlier post I talked about how Mt Spokane and Silver Mountain were starting to get involved in social media. Now I would like to talk a bit more about how local Inland Northwest snowboarding destination are using social media. Lets start with a recap:
Mt Spokane currently has a blog, a twitter account, a facebook account and a myspace account
Silver Mountain currently has a blog, a twitter account, and a facebook account
Now for the rest of the Inland Northwest snowboarding spots:
49 Degrees North has nothing that I could find…. sorry everyone.
Lookout Pass has a twitter account, and a facebook account. For some reason they do not have these accounts openly displayed on their website, I had to hunt to find them.
Schweitzer has a blog, a twitter account, and a facebook. The downside of them having all this is that I was only able to find links to it within their actual sitemap. Within their sitemap they have a section for “The Mountain” and a section for “Plan Your Vacation” and both have links to their “facebook - twitter - blog”. Unfortunately they only figured out how to make the link in the “Plan Your Vacation” section work….
Red Mountain has a blog, a twitter account, and a facebook account. They did a good job of drawing attention to their twitter and facebook but their blog is a failure as far as I am concerned because they do not allow comments. So while it may technically be called a ‘blog’ it is just a news feed.
Fernie has a blog, a twitter account, and a facebook account. It was a bit of a dig to find their twitter account but I prevailed. Their blog is ‘Matt’s Blog’… I don’t know who Matt is but it seems that his personal blog is their official blog.
Kimberley has a blog and a facebook account. Interestingly enough Kimberley’s website is VERY similar to that of Fernie and they even share the same blog ‘Matt’s Blog’ but Kimberley openly displays their facebook account while I had to dig to find Fernies facebook and Kimberley does not have a twitter account.
Whitewater is kind of like 49 Degrees North and has no social media presence.
Sad news today, sorry
by martin beran on May.15, 2009, under Blog, News
I LIED! There’s nothing sad about this news at all in fact its amazing news! Silver Mountain Resort is going to be open for skiing and snowboarding this Sunday!
Don’t worry this is not an old update from way earlier, Silver will be open Sunday the 17th of MAY. They will be open from 8am until 3pm. Whew could it get any better….
YES IT CAN!! Getting your ski or snowboard groove on is going to be FREE which will give you more money to buy beer with. Think about buying me a beer if you see me.
Check out the pics of Silver Mountain that were taken today at noon (notice the lack of rocks and shrubs poking out):
